Question 1 - How do you stop an engine when the key is not working?

A friend called iGazelle (oups, I mean... Isabelle) with a problem.

The friend had a car, manufactured in 1995, with an automatic transmission, was unable to stop the engine. Meaning, the key wasn't turning it off.

When the tank is full of expensive gasoline (1.25 CDN$ / liter), how do you stop the engine?
